Flowers and parasols and tents, oh my! Let’s talk Garden weddings.

With spring and summer wedding plans in full bloom, garden themed weddings are taking off in 2024 and 2025 and it’s not ending anytime soon. There are several ways to implement a garden party wedding while still being unique and outside-the-box. 

With so many fun color palettes to play with, I hate (more or less) to be biased, but garden themes are some of my favorite weddings to design, as they can be bright and colorful, or muted and lush.

Garden weddings are known for having an outpouring of florals: lined aisles, ceiling installs, greenery archways, etc. However, even though the florals are the star of the show, there are so many different elements that give this theme its title.

Whether you’re getting married in a garden, by a body of water, an estate, or mansion, let’s talk about the different ways to bring out the theme in its entirety. A garden party wedding encompasses a whimsical and romantic atmosphere with various details that enhance the overall theme. The venue selection is crucial, choosing a picturesque garden, or outdoor space with lush greenery, blooming flowers, and manicured lawns. Adding a floral arch as your ceremony backdrop is key. Pairing that with handheld fans or parasols, wooden, white, or wrought iron garden seating will add the perfect touch and tie it all together. 

For the reception, incorporating draping whether tented or not is ideal. Tablescapes with floral runners and candlelight, while vintage china and delicate glassware can add a delicate touch. The menu should feature light and refreshing dishes, incorporating seasonal fruits, garden salads, and a variety of herb-infused beverages. Live acoustic music or a string quartet can set the mood, playing romantic melodies that resonate with the garden surroundings. With attention to these details, a garden party wedding can truly transport guests into a whimsical and enchanting celebration of love and nature.
